- Don’t apply makeup to the treatment area for 12 hours after treatment. Don’t apply makeup to any part of the treatment area that remains red or inflamed. Follow the steps on this page showing how to apply and care for makeup hygienically.
- Don’t expose the treatment area to unnecessary sunlight or to tanning lamps for 2 to 3 days after treatment and then only if the treatment area appears fully healed and any scabs are gone. If you work in the food industry, avoid exposing the treatment site to infrared warming lamps.
- Don’t exercise or work out for at least 3 hours after treatment as this can exacerbate any redness, swelling or inflammation of the treatment area.
- Don’t pick or scratch at scabs in the treatment area. Itchiness is a sign of fast healing. Do not give in to the temptation to touch or scratch. Apply a moisturising cream to the irritated area then apply Melfol Calm Balm over the top of it.

- Don’t use any type of oil or “butter” (i.e.: cocoa butter) on the treatment area as it can lift the tiny scabs early and prevent complete healing.
