For transgender women, facial hair; how to conceal it; how to keep it under control; and how to remove it – permanently – are universal problems that directly affect your ability to pass as female. Most who have gone through transition will advise dealing with this as soon as possible. If you are considering facial feminisation surgery, most surgeons will not consider you for surgery until your facial hair has been dealt with as the dense hair under the skin distorts the true shape of the jawline.

Removing a full face of hair is a big investment and, done properly, usually takes 12-14 months of weekly treatment. For this reason alone it is important to choose a permanent treatment for removing facial hair. Here the Permanence Method of galvanic multi-probe electrolysis and its 100% guarantee come into their own. No other method of hair removal is going to guarantee to permanently erase male-pattern facial hair. When you complete your course of treatment with Permanence you should have less facial hair and smoother skin than your sister since not even peach-fuzz hair will remain.

The use of female hormones and androgen blockers will reduce the growth rate of hair below the neck but your body will never revert to a female pattern of body hair by itself. Consider prioritising hair removal in the following order:

  • Face
  • Genitals (if required for SRS)
  • Highly visible areas such as the neck, chest, hands and eyebrows
  • Other body areas with male pattern hair growth such as the back, shoulders, buttocks and bikini line
  • Luxury areas such as abdomen, arms, legs, feet and underarms

Eyebrows

Male eyebrows are generally wider and grow further toward the nose than in females. Permanence can shape your eyebrows to a distinctly female contour. If you are considering facial feminisation surgery then it is best to have this surgery prior to eyebrow electrolysis. Undertaking this area of hair removal after surgery gives us some ability to correct any misalignment of the eyebrow over the reshaped forehead if necessary.

Ears

Ear hair is much less common in women than men but in either case it is important to treat this problem hair before it becomes too long and thick.

Nose

Nose hair can be a nuisance to keep in check and it is obvious when it is too long. Permanence can remove unruly nose hair and ensure it is never a problem again.

Face

The Permanence Method of galvanic multi-probe electrolysis is the only permanent treatment for fast growing facial hair. Treatment is usually undertaken at 3 hours per week for 12 – 14 months and tapered off to once a month as hairs from the last dormant cycle are caught and eliminated. Your hairline will be tapered and thinned into female shaped sideburns and removed down the neck to the end of the natural beard line. Stray hairs around the ears will also be removed.

Neck

Hair on the lower neck is common in males but undesirable on a woman. This hair can be easily eliminated using the Permanence Method.

Shoulders

Shoulder hair can keep you from wearing strappy tops and dresses. This will no longer be a problem for you if Permanence clears this area of problem hair.

Chest

Chest hair is a distinctive male feature which Permanence can eliminate leaving you with a clear chest and breast area allowing you to wear fashionable necklines which enhance your cleavage.

Back

Back hair can be an obstinate problem. Most of the time, you can’t see it while others can and you can’t remove it by yourself. Permanence is able to remove this hair, once – permanently.

Underarms

Constant trimming, waxing and plucking underarm hair can be the cause of uncomfortable ingrown hairs as well as occasional rashes. Permanence can remove this hair once and for all leaving your underarms smooth and hair-free. You will never see that awkward underarm shadow again.

Arms

Dark arm hair can overemphasise heavy arms. Permanence can make this hair disappear and give you the freedom to wear the fashion you choose.

Hands & Fingers

Obvious hairs on your hands and fingers can take away your femininity and make wearing jewellery difficult. Permanence is able to remove this hair and keep your hands looking feminine.

Abdomen

If you have a visible “snail trial” continuing down from your bellybutton it can restrict you from wearing outfits which expose your midriff. Permanence can easily remove this hair leaving your abdomen smooth and hair-free.

Buttocks

Like the back area, buttocks are not an easy area in which to manage problem hair. Permanence can remove any male pattern hair remaining in this area and ensure it does not return.

Bikini Line

The male “bikini line” is often less defined than a woman’s and can extend down the thighs and across the abdomen. If this is your problem, Permanence can permanently remove this hair making shorts and swimwear easy to wear.

Genitals

Depending on the type of SRS surgery you are planning, you may be required to have selective areas of genital hair permanently removed. Some surgeons will, instead, elect to scrape or cauterise hair on the skin they use for grafts but this is not an infallible process and any hair that regrows has the potential to cause infection and become ingrown. It is prudent, given the choice, to permanently remove this hair before surgery. Surgeons recommend that hair removal treatment be completed at least one month prior to surgery to ensure the skin surface is fully healed and capable of resisting infection.

Legs

Most women have to spend their whole adult lives going through the regular ritual of waxing their legs.  Imagine never having to do this again! Permanence can give you silky smooth legs that stay that way – forever!

Feet & Toes

If you are sick of wearing closed-in shoes because your leg hair doesn’t stop at the ankles, Permanence can give you the best excuse for new footwear by permanently removing hair around the feet and toes.
